About the Institute of Fundraising

About us

The Institute of Fundraising is the professional membership body for UK fundraising. Our mission is to support fundraisers, through leadership, representation, standards-setting and education, and we champion and promote fundraising as a career choice.

Membership

We have over 5,200 Individual Members, who get access to professional and personal development, networking opportunities, training, support and advice. We also offer Organisational Membership to charitable organisations and Corporate Supporter partnerships to companies that supply products or service to the not-for-profit sector.

Training

We offer a wide range of fundraising training courses, suitable for both new fundraisers and fundraisers with several years’ experience. We also offer fundraising qualifications, enabling fundraisers to gain professional recognition for their knowledge, work and experience.

Events

We run a programme of one day conferences throughout the year which focus on innovation and best practice across a variety of fundraising techniques. Our flagship event, National Convention, takes place in July each years and is attended by over 2,000 fundraisers.

Guidance

We provide legal and best practice guidance on a wide range of fundraising techniques. Our Codes of Fundraising Practice provide a guide to the law and best practice in relation to fundraising activity throughout the UK.

Policy & Campaigns

We aim to be an influential voice for fundraisers and to be an expert policy lead on fundraising and wider giving. Our policy team works to deliver a strong representative voice on behalf of individual and organisational members that influences and effects change for the fundraising profession wherever it is needed.
