Employers from across the UK have come together to celebrate the success of Payroll Giving at this year’s National Payroll Giving Excellence Awards held at the House of Lords.

The National Payroll Giving Excellence Awards celebrate the work of employers that have gone the extra mile, whether by encouraging their staff to give to so many good causes by matching staff donations pound-for-pound, or by running extensive internal promotions to get more people signed up to Payroll Giving.

Speaking at this year's awards ceremony, hosted by Lord MacKenzie of Framwellgate, Mervi Slade, Chair of the Institute of Fundraising’s Payroll Giving Special Interest Group, said: “It is hugely satisfying to see that so many organisations have embraced Payroll Giving. The judging panel were impressed by the quality of entries and the innovative approaches taken by employers to create and sustain some really effective campaigns for their employees.”

Presenting the Awards were Rob Wilson MP, Minister for Civil Society, and Damian Hinds MP, Exchequer Secretary to the Treasury.

Rob Wilson MP, Minister for Civil Society, said: Congratulations to everyone here tonight. The individuals and organisations represented here demonstrate our nation’s generous nature and willingness to give. I hope that, through the example they set, they will inspire more employers to support Payroll Giving, helping us to build a bigger and stronger society.”

Damian Hinds MP, Exchequer Secretary to the Treasury, said: “Payroll Giving is an effective mechanism to enable the famously generous British people to donate to charities who do vital work. The winners of these awards demonstrate the best of this scheme and their successes should be celebrated.”

Panikos Efthimiou, Chair of the Association of Payroll Giving Organisations, said: "Congratulations from the APGO to everyone shortlisted for the NPGEAs. Thank you to employers and their employees around the UK for continuing to make payroll giving a continued success and providing much-needed income for charitable causes."
