Institute of Fundraising and Localgiving Announce Partnership to Increase Fundraising Support for UK Local Charities

13 December 2016

The Institute of Fundraising and Localgiving have announced a strategic partnership to provide increased fundraising support to local charities and community groups in the UK. The partnership will focus on expanding access to bespoke training, resources and fundraising opportunities for UK community-based voluntary organisations.

Localgiving’s 2016 Local Charity and Community Group Sustainability Report - which will be released in full on the 16th December - has found that 77% of local charities do not feel they currently have the necessary skills to run a successful fundraising campaign. It also reports that 83% of local groups would benefit from support with online fundraising.

Through the partnership, Institute of Fundraising members will have the opportunity to claim a free one-year Localgiving membership for their local charity or community group - providing access to secure online donation processing, automated Gift Aid and regular match fund campaigns.

In addition, the Institute of Fundraising will provide resources and support to help Localgiving members develop their knowledge and make the most out of online fundraising. The collaboration between the two organisations marks a sustained commitment towards supporting smaller local voluntary organisations that do not have access to the resources of their larger counterparts.

Stephen Mallinson, Chief Executive of Localgiving, said:

“It is important that Localgiving works alongside other voluntary sector organisations to bolster support for local community-based groups, so we’re thrilled to announce this partnership with the Institute of Fundraising.

Its knowledge and expertise will be invaluable in helping our members to develop their fundraising capacity and diversify their sources of income over the coming years.”

Adam Bryan, Director of Partnerships at the Institute of Fundraising, said:

We are delighted to announce this new partnership with Localgiving. Many smaller charities are struggling in the current funding environment while demand for their services is increasing. This partnership gives IoF members access to many of Localgiving’s fantastic resources, including its match-funding programme designed to help diversify income through online fundraising.”
