Trustees
The Trustees are elected by members of the Institute of Fundraising and meet six times a year. Trustees stand for three years and can be re-elected for a further three-year term. The Trustees also have the power to co-opt additional members onto the Board for their specific skills.
Mark Astarita
Chair
Mark joined the British Red Cross in 2003 moving from The National Deaf Children's Society. With over 20 years experience of fundraising in the voluntary sector Mark has been responsible for raising in excess of ½ billion pounds.
Mark became a trustee of the Institute of Fundraising (IOF) in February 2008 and chair in July 2011. He is a trustee of Voluntary Services Overseas.
Gill Raikes MBE
Vice Chair
Gill Raikes MInstF has served a Trustee of the Institute since 2010. She is Chief Executive of the Royal Brompton & Harefield Hospitals Charity.
Gill built her career over 26 years of working for the National Trust.
Helen Elliott
Treasurer and Chair of the Finance and Resources Committee
Helen was appointed a trustee of the Institute in 2012. She is also a partner at Sayer Vincent, a firm of auditors and advisors to charities and not for profit organisations. She is an audit partner and also leads VAT, gift aid, governance, mergers and due diligence reviews and provides training and facilitation for charities on finance, tax, governance and risk.
Dawn Varley
Honorary Secretary & Member of the Finance & Resources Committee
Dawn Varley MInstF(Dip) has served a Trustee of the Institute since 2010. She is Director of Marketing and Fundraising for the League Against Cruel Sports.
Dawn’s previous roles have included Consultant with Purple Vision, Project Manager at Age UK, Data Development Manager at Christian Aid, and Database Manager at WaterAid. She was also was a committee member of the IoF Technology Special Interest Group from 2007 – 2012.
Irene Chambers
Trustee & Chair of the Membership Committee
Irene Chambers MInstF(Dip) has served a Trustee of the Institute since July 2012. She is a Fundraising Manager with Kidneys for Life a medical charity based in Manchester.
She is also Chair of the IoF North West Regional Group. Irene’s has worked previously for Bolton Lads & Girls Club, Fairbridge and the YWCA in Scotland.
Joseph Cuff
Trustee & Welsh representative
Joseph Cuff has served as Trustee of the Institute since July 2011. He is also National Fundraising Manager for Wales at Diabetes UK.
Di Flatt
Trustee
Di Flatt has served as Trustee of the Institute since July 2012. She has 15 years experience as a director of fundraising, eleven years for a number of London based charities, and now just over four years directing the fast growing fundraising department at Epilepsy Action.
Di is also Chair of IoF Yorkshire and a member of the Fundraising Standards Board Advisory Forum.
Stephen George
Trustee
Stephen George has served as a Trustee of the Institute since 2011. He is also Director of Fundraising at Maggie’s Cancer Caring Centres.
Stephen’s previous roles include Development Director and Director of Community Appeals at NSPCC, and fundraising positions at Unicef and Scope.
Julie Hunt
Trustee
Julie Hunt MInstF (Dip) has served a Trustee of the Institute since 2011. She is currently Funding Adviser & Consultant for Hunt4Funding and is vice-chair of Bexley Women’s Aid.
Julie’s previous roles include operational and fundraising for a variety of local and national charities including Community Links Bromley, Help the Aged, Mencap, Alzheimer’s Society and the Family Fund.
Jasvir Kaur
Trustee
Jasvir Kaur has served as Trustee of the Institute since July 2010. She is also Director of Fundraising and Communications at The Brooke.
Jasvir’s previous roles include Director of Fundraising at Freedom from Torture.
Kevin Kibble
Trustee
Kevin Kibble has served as Trustee of the Institute since July 2012. He is Chief Executive at The Caspari Foundation and Chair of the Institute of Fundraising London Region.
Kevin has 30 years’ experience in management, communications and marketing, 16 of which have been in fundraising and the voluntary sector.
Charlotte King
Trustee & Northern Ireland representative
Charlotte King has served as Trustee of the Institute since 2010. She is also Senior Community and Legacy Fundraiser Northern Ireland and Isle of Man at the British Red Cross.
Charlotte's previous roles includes Area Fundraising Manager at Arthritis Research UK and Concern Worldwide.
Peter Maple
Trustee
Peter Maple has served as Trustee of the Institute since July 2012. He is currently Director at London South Bank University, developing and delivering fundraising and strategic marketing for their Management in Civil Society fundraising course.
Over the last 22 years he's been a very successful fundraising practitioner and director. Senior posts include: YMCA, Arthritis Care, Leonard Cheshire Disability, Brook Hospital and Crisis UK.
Gordon Michie
Trustee, Scottish representative & Member of the Convention Board
Gordon Michie has been a Trustee of the Institute since 2011. He is also Director of Development at R Fundraising.
Stephen Pidgeon
Trustee & Chair of the Standards Committee
Stephen Pidgeon FInstF has served as a Trustee of the Institute since 2008. He is also a partner at Pidgeon Sargeant and Principal Consultant with Tangible.
Stephen was previously Chair of Target Direct, Talking Numbers and Brightsource.
Richard Taylor
Trustee
Richard Taylor has served as a Trustee of the Institute since March 2011. He is also Executive Director of Fundraising and Marketing at Cancer Research UK and Chair of The Neuro Foundation.
Richard Taylor’s previous roles include Head of Retail at Imperial Cancer Research and Store Director of Early Learning Centre.
Mike Wade
Trustee
Mike Wade FInstF has served as a Trustee of the Institute since 2011. He is also Executive Director of Fundraising and Communications at the National Deaf Children’s Society as well as a Trustee of HelpAge International, and Childlife. Mike also chairs the Institute’s Policy Advisory Board.
Mike’s previous roles include Head of Central Fundraising at WaterAid and Head of Supporter Development at Oxfam.
