Details of the scheme's funding in the first few years
A key principle of the scheme is that it is UK-wide. The Office of the Third Sector in the Cabinet Office and the Scottish Executive have agreed to proportionately fund the first five years of the scheme, after which the scheme will become self-financing. Scottish Dimension There will be a clear Scottish presence and dimension to the scheme. This is likely to be in the form of a Scottish staff resource to interface with the media as well as a Scottish postal address. The core market identifies that 15% of projected scheme members will be in Scotland. This percentage has been used as the basis for a future application for appropriate funding from The Scottish Government. First year funding has already been agreed. Similar roll out in Wales and Northern Ireland may become desirable at a later stage but it was felt important to treat Scotland separately given the current changes in Scottish legislation. The Office of the Third Sector in the Cabinet Office will provide the remaining 85% of funding.
