Direct Mail

Fundraising asks primarily through the letterbox

Direct Mail represents a popular traditional fundraising technique that can generate significant income for fundraising organisations engaged in the activity. It can be used to inform potential supporters about a cause, ask for financial support or to help build a relationship with supporters.

In essence the Code seeks to ensure that Direct Mail is decent, honest and transparent, providing potential supporters with the tools to make an informed decision about whether to support a cause.

Issues such as enclosures in Direct Mail packs, shock tactics and environmental sourcing are addressed in the Code as well as the use of data and targeting supporters effectively.
