Takeaways from Fundraising Convention 2016

Institute of Fundraising | 11 July 2016

Fundraisers from across the UK (and beyond!) gathered last week for Fundraising Convention 2016, the biggest event of its kind outside North America for professional fundraisers. Welcoming 2,500 visitors over three days we took advantage of all that our amazing new venue, the Barbican Centre, had to offer.

As you can imagine, a lot happened during those three days…

Our delegates were wished a successful Convention by the Minister for Civil Society and the event was crowned by the dedication and commitment of our fantastic volunteers who help us make Convention one that is truly designed by fundraisers, for the fundraising community.

All work and no play…

Delegates and guests also enjoyed a range of networking opportunities in the evenings, from Convention Dinner or the interactive Grease in the Barbican cinema to impromptu meet-ups and networking opportunities. Tuesday night saw us take over the Barbican Hall in collaboration with Cardboard Citizens for a fantastic production of Cathy Come Home – which you can view online.

It was followed by a panel discussion which included Ken Loach – and everyone left the Barbican feeling inspired to change the world for a better place.
