Event Fundraising Guidance
**The Guidance pages are currently being reviewed following the transfer of the Code of Fundraising Practice to the Fundraising Regulator. Please ensure that you have checked the latest version of the Code of Fundraising Practice available here.
Who is this guidance for?
This Code is intended to provide guidance for organising a fundraising event in the UK.
What does this guidance cover?
This guidance sets out legal requirements, best practice guidelines and a checklist of issues to consider when planning and running an event. Legal requirements can vary between different jurisdictions (England & Wales; Northern Ireland; Scotland). Though this guidance is intended to be comprehensive, fundraising events take many forms and as such this document may not cover every aspect of a particular event. It should be read in conjunction with the Charity Challenge Events and Outdoor UK Challenge Events guidance, including the Three Peaks guidance. If you are thinking of doing an outdoor challenge event in a national park then you might find this guidance useful.
This guidance is not a “how to” guide. It is written to highlight important factors which relate to event fundraising.
This document splits the fundraising activity into the following sections
What is Event Fundraising?
On the Day
Third Party Events and Identifying Ownership
Key Legal, Tax and VAT Issues
