The Institute has been working closely over the last 12 months with the UK Workforce Hub on the review of the Fundraising National Occupational Standards.
The Institute has been closely involved at all stages with major representation on the Steering Group from National and Regional groups as well as small, medium and large charity representatives.
Individual and Organisational members were well represented during the three month consultation period last year providing significant input that has been incorporated in the final version.
These standards are relevant to all those involved in fundraising whether as those who support the fundraising function, carry out fundraising or manage fundraising either in a voluntary or paid capacity.
The new Standards include units on grant, corporate and major gifts fundraising as well as direct marketing amongst others.
The document contains much detailed information which can be put to a variety of uses as outlined in the Introduction.
A major difference between these and the previous Standards, is that this is a live online document and can be amended and expanded on a rolling basis as fundraising practice develops.
Within the Institute, the Director of Professional Development is the first point of contact and is available to support Individual and Organisational members as they seek to put the Standards into practice, have detailed questions or who have additional input or suggested amendments. Email the Director of Professional Development.
Any queries relating to National Occupational Standards, or to find out about other third sector related standards, please email Esther Gillespie. The UK Workforce Hub is the Sector Skills Body for the third sector who have been licensed to write these fundraising standards.
The Standards can be accessed on the UK Workforce Hub web site. The Introduction and the Standards themselves can be downloaded below.
