Learning Outcomes
As a result of attending the course, participants will be able to identify how best to work with statutory agencies, develop and present programmes and understand the key changes taking place in how statutory bodies work.
Content
- Understanding the system
This session will look at some at the key changes in how statutory agencies operate and in particular how they relate to the voluntary sector. It will also map the system and show how the statutory sector interacts.
- From grant aid to commissioning
This session will focus on how the funding relationship between statutory and voluntary organisations is changing. We will look at the issues involved in and the impact of commissioning, competitive bidding and partnership working.
- Turning ideas into projects
Through case studies and practical work we will look at how organisations can best present their ideas, show their value and make bids in language and style that statutory bodies relate to.
- Developing influence
This practical session looks at how to influence statutory agencies and how to build effective and lasting relationships.
- Planning ahead
A final action planning session to identify what organisations can do to make themselves more effective in dealing with statutory bodies.
