Influence

One of the main roles of the Institute of Fundraising is to champion fundraising. We work to ensure that the law facilitates charitable fundraising and supports the work of fundraisers.

We also strive to increase public awareness of fundraising and how it works so donors appreciate the fundraising work done by charities and by professional fundraisers working on their behalf.

We champion fundraising through:

  • Raising Your Voice - a consultation and campaigning forum for both Individual members and Organisational members.
  • Representing members’ views at third sector events; in the press and in responses to government consultations.
  • Collaboration with international fundraising bodies. The Institute of Fundraising has endorsed an international Statement of Ethics in Fundraising (36kb), a set of values and standards for the global fundraising community, unanimously approved by 24 countries in October 2006.
  • Collaboration with other umbrella community and voluntary organisations involved in the third sector.
