What is Raising Your Voice?
‘Raising Your Voice’ is the Institute of Fundraising’s consultation and campaigning mechanism for members, enabling you to ‘speak out’ about key policy and campaigning issues as well as fundraisers’ professional development needs.
The programme comprises membership briefings, roundtable discussions, targeted and networking events, surveys, campaigns, and Institute of Fundraising Special Interest and Regional Group events.
Why has ‘Raising Your Voice’ been established?
The Institute of Fundraising is the UK’s membership association for fundraisers.
We represent our members’ viewpoints in dealings with government, the media, the public and the voluntary sector. Through ‘Raising Your Voice’ and other consultation mechanisms, we work to ensure that member’ cares and concerns drive and inform the Institute’s central agenda.
‘Raising Your Voice’ activities during the past year have included:
- A survey of members’ concerns.
- A series of networking events for directors of fundraising offering a chance to meet well-known senior executives from other sectors.
- A focus group of charities and donors exploring lifetime legacies.
- A series of events offering members the chance to meet exchange viewpoints with representatives of the Fundraising Standards Board.
- A policy forum on The Future of Gift Aid attended by more than 100 members.
- Focus groups on the payment of fundraisers and the role of commission payments.
How can you Raise Your Voice?
The Institute of Fundraising will inform members of consultations, membership briefings, roundtable discussions, surveys, Special Interest and Regional Group events that form part of the ‘Raising Your Voice’ programme. We hope members will get involved.
We are keen to hear about any additional concerns or ideas members have.
