100th Member for ImpACT Coalition

7 January 2008

The ImpACT (Improving Accountability, Clarity and Transparency) Coalition, a movement of charities and trade bodies working to increase public trust and confidence in charities, this week announces the recruitment of its 100th member, the Welsh National Opera.

Membership numbers have increased significantly, from 67, since the appointment of Richard Marsh as Coalition Director in February 2007. The Coalition now numbers all of the top 30 fundraising charities amongst its members, representing a voluntary income of over £2.5 billion.

Sheona Gardner, Development Manager at the Welsh National Opera comments:
'We at the Welsh National Opera are pleased to be the 100th organisation to join the ImpACT Coalition. We’re keen work with other Coalition members to promote better public understanding of how charities work and the benefits they bring to society.'

Alan Gosschalk, Chair of the ImpACT Coalition says:
'It’s exciting that the Coalition continues to grow – and the addition of our 100th member extends reach of the key principles of accountability and transparency into Wales, and also, for the first time, into arts organisations.'

Richard Marsh, ImpACT Coalition Director says:
'It has been good to see solid growth in numbers of charities joining ImpACT over the last few months. This needs to be matched by greater transparency and accountability across the voluntary sector.

'ImpACT aims to resource its members and is well-advanced in developing an online toolkit by which they will be able to assess and improve their transparency and accountability.'
