Developing effective regulation

England and Wales
The Charities Act 2006 continues to be introduced. The Charities Act 2006 Implementation Plan is determined by the Office of the Third Sector. Part of the Act that relates to fundraising has already been introduced and information is available on the Solicitation Statements page.

Scotland
The Charity and Trustee Investment Act (Scotland) Act 2005 continues to be introduced. Up to date information is available from OSCR (Office of the Scottish Charity Regulator). Further information about charity law in Scotland is available on the Scottish Charity Law page.

Northern Ireland
Work has now commenced on implementing the Charities Act (Northern Ireland) 2008. Until a charity commission for Northern Ireland is established, information is available from the Department for Social Development. Further information is also available on this site.
