Background to the Charities Act 2006

The draft Charities Bill was first introduced by the Government on May 27th 2004.

During the summer of 2004 the Bill underwent a period of pre-legislative scrutiny by a Joint Committee of the Commons and Lords. The report was published on 30th September 2004.
