Statistical Information on Fundraising

Tools to research fundraising

CAF, NCVO and SCVO all publish statistical information on the sector. CAF publish analysis of the top 500 charities in their annual report 'Charity Trends'. NCVO publishes 'The Voluntary Sector Almanac' every two years and SCVO publish data relating to giving in Scotland.

Read about the Institute's fundraising benchmarking project, Fundratios, run in partnership with the Centre for Interfirm Comparison.

Other organisations that conduct research into areas relevant to fundraising include Henley Management College and South Bank University. Find more information on the Institute's Useful Links page.

If you are searching for research concerning fundraising and the voluntary sector, the Institute’s online Research Index is a free searchable signposting tool containing information on the key agencies, individuals, and academic institutions who are currently engaged in the field and a listing of current specific projects.

The idea is to share and spread current information about research in the sector, so that as a sector we stop trying to reinvent the wheel, instead building on work, rather than replicating it.

If you are looking for an opportunity for either free or reduced cost analysis on your organisation, you can also register your interest in becoming a case study for a research project.

Likewise, if you are searching for a suitable organisation to carry out research on, the case study database is an ideal opportunity to register your interest.

As it grows, the register will become an increasing powerful tool for researchers and practitioners alike so please do take advantage of this free opportunity to publicise your work.

To find out more, visit the research directory, the research index or contact the Policy team.
