How the Innovation Zone Works

Applying to appear before the Innovation Zone

The Innovation Zone panel is convened twice a year. Future meeting dates of the Innovation Zone panel will be publicised by the Institute on the Institute of Fundraising web site.

Applications from suppliers to appear before the Innovation Panel close ten calendar days before the next Innovation Zone panel meeting.

To apply, you are required to supply the Institute with a written summary of
the service or product, of not more than one side of A4. If your application is selected to appear before the Innovation Zone panel, this summary will be distributed to the panel members before the event.

Your application must also include:

  • the name and address of the organisation
  • the name, email address and telephone number of the main contact person
  • the web site address of the product or service
  • the name(s) and title(s) of the presenter(s) to the Innovation Zone.

Applications should be emailed to the Policy team. If the application is accepted, an administrative fee of £50 +VAT is payable to the Institute of Fundraising prior to the event, and a copy of the terms and conditions must also be signed and returned to the Institute of Fundraising seven days before the presentation is made to the panel.

On the day
If the application to appear before the Innovation Zone Panel is successful, suppliers are required to attend for approximately an hour of the half-day event.

Each supplier is required to give up to a 15-minute presentation or 'pitch' to the panel. This is then followed by a 30-minute question-and-answer session and dialogue between the supplier and the panel members.

After the event
Following the presentation by the supplier, panel members then discuss their conclusions in private. A report is published following the event and is available in its entirety to Organisational members of the Institute of Fundraising. A much shorter and less-detailed report with a basic star rating is produced for the press and promotional purposes.
