JumbleAID - September 2007

JumbleAID

JumbleAID is a new concept in facilitating recycling (reducing landfill by reuse) and supporting charities. It is an online venture which enables members of the public to find new homes for unwanted items, in return for a donation to charity. The 'gifter' benefits by clearing out unwanted goods without contributing to landfill, the 'seeker' by obtaining something they want or need and the charity by receiving a donation.

Unlike other online auction sites, all of the money paid for the posted item is passed to the charity (less the transaction fee) and the item does not have to be sold to the highest bidder. Rather, the 'gifter' can choose a 'seeker' who they feel is most deserving or lives nearby for example.

There is also potential for other extensions of JumbleAID, including one for businesses, celebrities and emergency appeals.

Details of the scheme and how it works are available to read in the summary report. Signed-in Organisational members can download the full report below which contains the panel's conclusions.
