Policy and Influence

Organisational members are at the heart of influencing policy and strategy at the Institute of Fundraising.

Our 345 members currently account for more than £4 billion of the voluntary income raised by charities in the UK.

The IoF’s governance framework ensures that at least three trustees are drawn from Organisational members so that their views and interests are represented at board level.

Organisational members are also guaranteed seats on IoF’s advisory committees eg Standards Committee, Learning Committee and Policy Advisory Committee.  We also prioritise Organisational members in our consultations and focus group work.

Your agenda is our agenda.  Members enjoy priority engagement and influence in our policy and campaigns work.  They are able to input directly into our policy positions on every area and issue in fundraising.

Issues that are current or recent issues we’ve been representing you on include the review of the Charities Act, cheques, text donations debit and credit card donations, clothing collections.

In tackling your priorities Organsational members have access to round tables and discussions with Government, politicians, opinion formers and fundraising and sector leaders.

Finally you are central to the process of making sure the Codes of Fundraising Practice are fit for purpose.  It’s the experience and expertise of you and your staff that puts the ‘self’ into self-regulation.

This is how IoF ensures that the standards you are asked to comply with are practical, fair, realistic and useful to your fundraisers, your donors, and your beneficiaries.
