The Institute of Fundraising (‘Institute’) is announcing the launch of National Convention 2008, the largest event for fundraisers outside the US.
Taking place at the Hilton London Metropole from 7 -9 July 2008, the three-day event will be bigger and better than ever.
This year will see motivational plenary sessions from three inspirational speakers; jockey Bob Champion, city ‘superwoman’ Nicola Horlick and Duncan Goose, the founder of Global Ethics.
Now in its 19th year, the National Convention is an annual event targeted at any fundraising professional including Institute members and all other fundraisers of any level.
The Convention is aimed at anyone who works for charities, arts, health, education and faith organisations across the UK.
For the first time this year, Convention delegates will experience a closing plenary session. Alan Clayton MInstF will inspire attendees to ‘make things happen’ on their return to the office.
Further to delegate feedback, the content of the ‘Focus On’ sessions have been redeveloped in 2008 – offering in-depth knowledge on Six Secrets to being a Great Fundraiser, Events Fundraising and Face-to-Face Fundraising.
Delivering innovative, inspiring and transferable knowledge, additional features of National Convention 2008 include:
- A new track for 2008, ‘The Bigger Picture’, which brings sector gurus together
- Over 130 workshops, divided between ten specialist tracks, for beginner, experienced and senior fundraisers
- Three Focus On sessions, offering in-depth knowledge on a specific topic
- Specialist management training for senior fundraisers in partnership with Henley Management College
- The second National Awards, providing fundraisers with an opportunity for peer-to-peer recognition
Commenting on the launch of National Convention 2008, Kirsty Thomson, Head of Events at the Institute of Fundraising, says:
'It’s a great pleasure to announce an exciting line-up of motivational speakers for this year’s National Convention. There’s also a great deal for delegates to gain from each other at Convention, and the networking opportunities at the event are second to none.
'Fundraisers have the opportunity to debate with peers fundraising trends and broader issues affecting charities. Ensure that you don’t miss out on this fabulous opportunity for 2008.'
