The Institute has welcomed two new trustees, one re-elected trustee, and three new Fellows.
The new trustees are Mena Gainpaulsingh and Tanya Steele, and John Baguley has been re-elected to the Board. Mena Gainpaulsingh is a senior consultant at IFC and Tanya Steele is Director of Supporter Relations and Fundraising at Institute Organisational member Save the Children.
The new Fellows are Valerie Morton, Isobel Michael, and Mike Caudrey.
The membership grade of Fellow is for those who are recognised as having made a special contribution to the sector and to the Institute. Individuals are nominated according to their advancement of fundraising practice, and to the development of the Institute and the fundraising profession.
Valerie Morton has been a successful fundraiser at organisations including RNIB, Help the Aged, YMCA and NSPCC. She is currently a consultant and trainer advising large and small charities alike. Valerie has been a member of the Institute for 20 years, serving on its Convention board, as well as the ICFM (as it was) Fundraising Awards Committee, chairing the Institute’s working party for the remuneration of fundraisers, serving the Standards Committee, and running many IoF training courses.
Isobel Michael has also much professional experience as a fundraiser, with roles at organisations including BIBIC; she then joined a small fundraising consultancy, and has now established her own freelance and consultancy work focussed towards trusts and statutory funding. Isobel has been secretary of the Institute’s South West Committee for over 15 years. She has been the driving force behind the organisation of virtually all of the many IoF conferences, seminars and workshops which have taken place in the region during this time.
Mike Caudrey served on the Institute’s board as honorary treasurer from late 1999 onwards, and helped to appoint the current chief Executive, Lindsay Boswell. He was key in agreeing a new strategy for the ICFM (as it then was), effecting a change to becoming the Institute of Fundraising. His strengths are strategic insight, financial competence and good governance skills.
Lindsay Boswell, Chief Executive at the Institute of Fundraising, comments:
'We are delighted all three of these exceptional fundraisers have accepted Fellowship of the Institute. Their achievements are varied, but they have all acted with the best interests of fundraising and the IoF uppermost.
'We also welcome Mena Gainpaulsingh and Tanya Steele to our trustee board. I’m certain that their fundraising knowledge and experience will help to continue to guide the Institute in the right direction over the next few years.'
