The Institute of Fundraising (‘Institute’) has launched the Face-to-Face Activity Code of Fundraising Practice which has been revised to reflect developments in Face-to-Face practice and incorporate Face-to-Face engagement (often termed ‘prospecting’).
The Code recognises that not all Face-to-Face activity results in a request for money. Face-to-Face fundraising may simply seek to record belief in a cause or support for a campaign, with a request for money following at a later date.
As well as reflecting the developments in Face-to-Face activity, the Code also details legal and best practice guidance in the areas of Face-to-Face campaign planning, the training of agents, the conduct of approaches, and identifying sites and procedures.
It is also detailed in the Code that organisations engaged in Face-to-Face activity should consider becoming members of the Public Fundraising Regulatory Association (‘PFRA’).
Megan Pacey, Director of Policy and Campaigns at the Institute of Fundraising, says:
'This Code has been launched after a substantial consultation process in which a range of stakeholders were engaged. We are pleased to have found a middle ground to benefit all those concerned in Face-to-Face activity.
'In the longer term, the Code seeks to ensure a sustainable environment in which Face-to-Face fundraising activity can continue to take place.'
