Research Portal
Welcome to the Institute of Fundraising’s Research Portal. The Research Portal contains hundreds of fundraising research papers, reports and studies generated by universities, sector research agencies, consultancies and umbrella bodies.
Using the Research Portal
The Research Portal can be searched by using the categories below or by using a blank keyword search:
When you click through to a page of abstracts you will find a highlighted link in the citation for each work. Clicking on this link will either take you through to the original work, or to the publisher’s website so that if you wish you may purchase the original material. Fees typically range from £10-40 depending on the nature of the work, who published it and its length.
If you do purchase a copy, please remember that the publisher will be licensing that work for your personal use. If you wish to reproduce it to share with others, then you will probably need to purchase an additional copyright permission. There are usually clear links on a publisher’s website that make it clear how to seek that additional permission.
One tip, sometimes authors will retain copyright in their work. If this is the case you may find that they will be willing to share a copy with you if you e-mail them and request it. Their contact details are usually provided on the publisher’s website, but if not you can find them through Google Scholar. If you make such a request please be respectful of the individual’s copyright and do not reproduce the work without their explicit permission.
If you spot anything we’ve missed, please do let us know so we can keep the site as up to date and comprehensive as possible.
Organisational Members
We know IoF Organisational members are keen to share research and insights wherever possible so in phase two of this project, we will be building a bank of research that only our member charities will have access to. Please contact Amanda Shepard if you would like to participate or to get involved in future research that IoF members might collaborate on.
