Our chartered journey
Following a consultation period with our members and a vote on the decision to apply for chartered status, members voted overwhelming in support of the move (96.8% of the votes received). We submitted our formal Petition to the Privy Council on 1 July 2019 to establish a new royal chartered body to be known as the Chartered Institute of Fundraising.
We are delighted to announce that at a meeting of the Privy Council held on 12th February 2020, Her Majesty The Queen approved an Order granting a Royal Charter to the Institute of Fundraising.
The proposed draft Charter, Byelaws and Regulations can be read here.
This is a really important step for the Institute and the fundraising community, embedding professional standards at the heart of the fundraising community, and securing external recognition for the important role fundraisers play in today’s society raising vital funds to make the world a better place.
