IoF Scotland: What support is available during the coronavirus pandemic
Michelle Cook, Head of IoF Scotland, looks at what support is available to fundraisers in Scotland and explains what the IoF in Scotland is doing to support our members during this time of unprecedented change.
£20 million from this package has been allocated to a Third Sector Resilience Fund which launched on Wednesday 25th March 2020. This fund offers real support at a time when charities are facing a real risk of closure and communities losing vital services at a time when they are needed most.
The necessary halting of events and other fundraising activities is already having a dramatic effect on income and cashflow. Fundraisers are now challenged to find new ways to engage with donors in a time of world-wide crisis.
Now more than ever it is time for us to look at new ways to support fundraisers and the sector.
In the coming weeks we will start to deliver a calendar of ‘virtual’ events, coffee mornings, networking, roundtables and training. We will also be working to bring you UK wide events and the opportunity to share knowledge and experience across the entire UK fundraising Community.
I want to reassure you that we are still working to support our members and keen to hear from you, please share your concerns and worries and to let us know what we can do to help you.
We are taking on the challenge to work in new ways, and over the past few weeks Katrina Bruce and myself have adjusted to working with each other with a distance of 60 miles between us and able to ensure we can continue to provide the service you need.
We are grateful to the Scottish Executive Committee and Special Interest Groups for their continued support in difficult times which are impacting both work and home lives. I’m truly astounded and heartened by their drive and determination to support fellow fundraisers in such times.
