Access Fund

Everyone belongs at Fundraising Convention!

We want an equal, diverse and inclusive profession where everyone is the right fit.

The Access Fund is an important initiative to make fundraising a more equal, more diverse and more inclusive profession. There are currently too few BAME (self-identifying as Black, Asian or from a Minority Ethnic background), disabled and LGBT+ (self-identifying under the LGBT+ umbrella, for example as lesbian, gay, bi and/or trans) fundraisers; and not enough women in leadership roles.

A big step towards achieving this change is enabling those who would otherwise have been unable to participate in Fundraising Convention to attend through a bursary award from the IoF Diversity Access Fund.

Last year, thanks to donations from the fundraising community and beyond, we awarded bursaries to 23 people who would have otherwise been unable to attend, contribute to and learn from Fundraising Convention.

This year we want even more people from diverse backgrounds to attend Fundraising Convention and aim to award 50 bursaries covering travel, accommodation and attendance costs.

We have launched a fundraising appeal to make this ambition a reality, and are looking to raise £10,000 to support the drive towards diversity and inclusion and enable more people from diverse backgrounds to attend Fundraising Convention. If, like us, you believe that Fundraising Convention should be a place for everyone please donate what you can today.

The application process for 2019 bursaries will open on Tuesday 2nd April. More details will be published here.

*Please note bursaries are also available via RAISE: Arts, Culture & Heritage programme.
