Capital Campaigns are one of the most effective ways to raise large amounts of funds over a specific period of time. But, a capital campaign is often a large scale undertaking which requires a number of staff, board members and volunteers working together to deliver a complex project successfully.

This practical two-day course ensures that you will have the knowledge and tools required to plan, manage and close a successful capital campaign; avoiding the common pitfalls and helping you to meet your goals.

  • Establishing if you are ready to run a successful capital campaign
  • Assessing the risks and opportunities by conducting research and a feasibility study
  • Developing your capital campaign strategy and brand
  • Establishing the timetable and phasing of the campaign
  • Selecting and recruitment of staff, volunteers and leaders
  • Identifying the roles and responsibilities of a campaign board

 

Managing the Campaign

  • Identifying the six phases of the capital campaign structure – from Private to Public appeal
  • Managing your campaign board expectations
  • Applying appropriate solicitation tactics
  • Learning how to keep you, your team and the campaign on track
  • Sticking to your budgets and keeping costs down
  • Implementing the communication and marketing plan

 

Closing the Campaign

  • Converting pledges to donations
  • Developing donor stewardship and post campaign relationships
  • Evaluating your campaigns performance
  • Planning and preparing for what is next
  • Recording and reviewing lessons learnt

 

About Your Trainer:

Gill Jolly FInstF(Dip) has over 25 years experience in the charity sector working as a fundraiser, manager, director and trainer of fundraisers and support teams with a wide variety of sizes and types of organisation. She now runs her own consultancy and works with not-for-profit organisations across the UK and Europe providing a wide range of bespoke fundraising and management consultancy services. Gill has worked with the IoF since 2000 delivering fundraising’s professional qualifications and leading courses on strategy, management and implementation.
