Venue: Birmingham Conference & Events Centre
Now in its 7th year, the largest event for professional fundraisers in the West Midlands returns on Monday 12th October at the BCEC in central Birmingham. Get your tickets early to secure the best rates. The IoF West Midlands Conference is held annually by the Institute of Fundraising West Midlands and is the place for fundraisers in the West Midlands to meet sector leaders, fellow fundraising professionals, and develop skills and knowledge.
The theme this year is ‘Collaborate’
As fundraisers we come together to work tirelessly and with passion to help others. We work in this sector as we care about our community and we want to make a difference. Fundraising is one of the most caring professions; one where sharing ideas and best practice is encouraged. As fundraisers we collaborate to make a difference and we change lives. Come together at Conference where we encourage fundraisers to collaborate.
SHAHIN SADAFI –Grenfell Survivor & Founding chairman of Grenfell United
Shahin Sadafi has overcome not one but two major tragedies to become an influential and inspiring leader, continuously finding hope and proving that with resilience and a 'never give up' attitude you can triumph through the most difficult of times.
“Motivation is a key element in our daily lives; what drives us, influences us, and keeps us going. We must not forget motivation is temporary; but, Inspiration is long lasting” - Shahin Sadafi
Born in Iran in 1984, Shahin earliest memories were of a country ravaged by war and was forced to flee from his home for fear of his life. Shahin moved with his family to West London in 1994 and in 1997 moved to Grenfell Tower. On 14th June 2017, whilst working away from home he received a call to say that Grenfell Tower was on fire.
Shahin and everyone lives were changed forever. But in this moment of extreme tragedy a community came together and working with residents and the wider community Shahin established Grenfell United – an association with the ultimate mission to unite the bereaved families and survivors with a strong and dignified voice.
Among other awards and recognitions, Shahin has received a Pride of Britain Award in 2017 for his work with the Grenfell community and together with QPR Trust were awarded Community project of the year 2017 at the London Football Awards for taking part in Game 4Grenfell.
Shahin uses his vast and unique experience to shed light on what drives people to success and helps individuals and businesses identify their true goals and purpose. Shahin also speaks on the power of community and how working together as one voice you can achieve anything you set your mind too. An interesting and informative take on collaboration on many levels.
