Having even a few committed major donors onside can make a significant impact on your organisation’s income but finding the right ones and bringing them on board can be daunting. This one day course will cover the key principles of major donor fundraising, and help you to use the appropriate tools to attract significant support for your charity and maintain long term relationships to benefit your organisation for years to come.

Who should attend:

This course is for people with a minimum of one year’s fundraising work experience either as a staff member or as a volunteer and for those who wish to develop skills to work with major donors.

By the end of this course you will be able to:

  • Understand the key characteristics of a major donor
  • Demonstrate the value of major donors to your organisation
  • Indentify major donors that match your organisation
  • Understand the major donor development cycle and timescales involved
  • Conduct major donor research, complying with data protection regulation
  • Identify why and how major donors give and produce a plan for cultivating and asking for a gift
  • Demonstrate the thanking, recognition and stewardship process for major donors

This course includes: qualities of a major donor, the cultivation cycle, prospect research principles, moves management, asking techniques and stewardship.

This was an excellent course for anyone looking to learn more about major donor fundraising. I came away with several new ways to approach major donors that I am certain I will be able to apply in my organisation. Chelsea Nelson, Hall for Cornwall Trust
