Come along to hear the latest research on fundraising and branding carried out by Professor Adrian Sargeant and Harriet Day.

OR

Iddesleigh A – Rose Cashman-Pugsley, Membership Manager, Eden Project – Transformation: The Eden Project Membership Story

Transformation is a core theme of the Eden Project story; in 2001 they transformed a former china clay pit into a breath-taking global garden. And they’ve not stopped changing, adapting and improving since then. In 2014 Rose joined the Eden team with a remit to completely revitalise and re-launch a range of Membership and Individual Giving activities. Five years on, and following additional experiences of managing organisational change in terms of a team restructure, Rose will share the lessons and tips she’s learned about managing transformation successfully and positively.

OR

Iddesleigh B – James Gadsby Pete, Director of Digital, William Joseph – Leadership in a digital world.

Leaders need to make 3 things happen to be successful in their role:
- Get decisions made
- Develop cultures
- Help people grow
Whilst much has changed in our world, a lot hasn’t. This is how leaders can achieve these responsibilities in the organisations of today and the future.

12.30    LUNCH - River Suite

Institute of Fundraising South West Annual General Meeting - please take 20 minutes to join us in the Denman Room

13.30 – 14:30     Choose from one of the following three sessions:

Denman Room – Lucy Gower, Director, Lucidity – The Power of Storytelling

Storytelling is already within your DNA, human beings learn and remember through stories. It is also your most powerful fundraising tool because a story told well connects with the listener, evokes emotion and inspires them to take action. Whatever your fundraising discipline you need to be able to inspire a range of audiences from supporters to volunteers to colleagues and your senior leadership. In this session, you will build your confidence for storytelling, learn the essential ingredients for crafting your own powerful stories and tell them in a way to engage and inspire your audience.

OR

Iddesleigh A – Trusts – insight from the decision-makers

Session information coming soon.

OR

Iddesleigh B – Juliet Corbett, Director, Juliet Corbett Consulting - Strategic focus toolkit: Making time for what’s actually important

Your office is hectic, your fundraising projects are buzzing with energy and your events programme is full… but when you don’t have time to pause, review, consider options and plan the next steps you can be fooled into thinking busy equals successful. Taking some time to find your strategic focus really pays off. In this interactive session, you’ll learn about the building blocks of a robust fundraising strategy, practical ways to super-charge your strategic thinking skills and tips for making time for what’s actually important. Return to the office with a new toolkit for finding your strategic focus and keeping it!

14.30    Refreshments served in the River Suite

15.00 – 16.00     Choose from one of the following three sessions:

Denman Room – Charly White – Engaging donors throughout their journey

Session information coming soon

OR

Iddesleigh A – Margi Jervoise, MJ Communications – Harnessing the power of PR for your charity

This session will teach you the importance of PR, how to identify your target audiences and how to reach them. If no one has ever heard of your charity, how can they possibly give to it? You will learn how to identify stories which the press will publish, how to approach and work with them so that they act as third party endorsements for your cause. Your charity’s reputation is the result of what you do and say and what others say about you. It is imperative to get those messages across in the right way to the right people.

OR

Iddesleigh BMark Hughes, Director, mch: positive impact - Unconscious Bias: Why we all do it, why it matters and how you can manage it.

After highlighting how prevalent unconscious bias is in our thinking, Mark will explain the evolutionary basis behind it.  Common examples of unconscious bias will then be explored, together with the impact they can have on individuals, teams and organisations.  Raising awareness of unconscious bias is the first step to managing it.  However, other tips will be given, including mindfulness of the language we use and taking care in how we design key processes such as recruitment, induction and career development.
