Trustees and Fundraising
With overall responsibility and accountability for a charity, every trustee has a role to play in ensuring that their organisation fundraises legally, responsibly and effectively, always treating the public fairly and with respect.
Are your fundraising activities in keeping with the purpose, values and culture of the charity?
As a trustee, you may not need to be a fundraising expert, but you do need to know that it is being done properly. You will also want to be confident that your charity’s fundraising strategy will secure a sustainable future and enable the organisation to achieve its objectives.
This means having oversight of the fundraising programme, supporting fundraisers in their role and ensuring that everyone within the organisation understands its importance and impact.
On 10th October, we launched our free Trustees and Fundraising guidance, produced in partnership with CFG, NCVO and ACEVO.
Read the blog from former IoF Chair, Richard Taylor, on the need for support, training and advice for charity trustees.
We also want to encourage more fundraisers to become trustees. GetRaising! by the Social Change Agency looks at how we can increase fundraising skills on trustee boards.
